I’ve never been inside the White House myself but surely, you can always go back there next time. The Cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin is a great outdoor beauty anyway!

I’m always embarrassed to admit that I’ve never been to my nation’s capital, and I’ve never seen the White House. When I teach English classes and we talk about travel, my students exclaim, “You’ve been to China but not Washington, D.C.?” I love your photos. I hope I can see it in person someday!

I visited DC as a student and loved it, but wore out my shoes from so much walking! I’d love to go back with my kids. Even though we live in London, they know all about Barak Obama!

@Anil: Typically, I have to call my state or senate representative and request a ticket through them about 3-4 months in advance. Unfortunately, when we went, it was one of the busiest week in DC (the Cherry Blossom week) so that week tickets were gone 6 months in advance.

@Cate & @Marina: Yes. We love it there. There are so many kid-friendly to do so we would go back in a heartbeat.

Sorry you missed the White House tour. Hopefully your travels will bring you back when the kids can enjoy it even more. I remember going in 8th grade. It was the perfect time for that kind of excursion since we were studying US history.
