That doesn't look like it's in Asia at all. Impressive! I haven't been to Macau, now I would like to check it out!

OMG - it really is a wonderful site. I have a weird memory of it though as we watched a friend have his wallet stolen out of his hands in front of the facade. (This was '98 - well before Chinese rule)

I had some of the best food ever in Macao. First, a monsoon coffee where the beans are picked during monsoon season and the rains wash away the bitterness. I have NEVER tasted a better coffee. Second, a fantastic Portuguese fish stew. Wow - just spectacular. And third - great cheap wine (at least compared to HK where I was living).

I love the ornate old buildings.

We do notice the smoking in restaurants (or rather the lack of). When we travel elsewhere in the U.S., we don't get the "smoking or non smoking?" question when we first hit the host stations. In Michigan, the casinos' objections seem to be one of the biggest holdups when it comes to banning smoking in public places.

That picture is breath taking. Those are my favorite types of photos, they really capture the history of the area. Built so long ago, yet the structure is more solid than anything made today.
