I had some of the best food ever in Macao. First, a monsoon coffee where the beans are picked during monsoon season and the rains wash away the bitterness. I have NEVER tasted a better coffee. Second, a fantastic Portuguese fish stew. Wow – just spectacular. And third – great cheap wine (at least compared to HK where I was living).

We do notice the smoking in restaurants (or rather the lack of). When we travel elsewhere in the U.S., we don’t get the “smoking or non smoking?” question when we first hit the host stations. In Michigan, the casinos’ objections seem to be one of the biggest holdups when it comes to banning smoking in public places.
