Several weeks ago I was invited to visit and tour Homewood Suites by Hilton Atlanta – Lawrenceville/Duluth. I was already a big fan of Homewood Suites during our stay in San Diego so I was excited to see if this location will have the same quality and charm.
Location Location Location
The location of the hotel is very important when you travel and this home away from home hotel is no difference.
The Homewood Suites Lawrenceville/Duluth is conveniently located next to I-85 and Sugarloaf Parkway. It’s literally across the street from the Discover Mills mall, one of our family favorite outlet mall. And right down the street, there is the Gwinnett Center which hosts various concerts, family shows and conferences through out the year.
Also with easy access to I-85, you can travel to different part of Atlanta easily (but try to avoid rush hour because we are notorious for the traffic during rush hour)
Property Details
I have stayed at Homewood Suites Liberty Station-San Diego. And I was not disappointed to see that this Homewood Suites Atlanta-Lawrenceville has the same detail in decoration and functions.
The lobby is nice and feel very welcoming. The big sofa looks inviting for a quick break in front of the fireplace and big flat screen TV. I feel that I have been transported to a peaceful living room even though I am right in the middle of the city!
Movie Room makes for family
One of the unique feature of this hotel is the Media/Movie Room. The room is created with family in mind. Kids will enjoy a movie night in this room with flat screen TV, DVD player and comfy theatre style chair.
The Famous Hot Breakfast
My kids still talk about their favorite breakfast at Homewood Suites. We used to think complimentary breakfast means store-bought muffin, banana and cereal in a box. But not here in Homewood Suites, the breakfast area in the morning is the place where you will see other guests enjoy the fresh breakfast from scramble eggs, bacon, fresh fruits, bread or cereals.
When you travel with kids, having free and healthy option for breakfast is a big plus and a real saving for both time and budget.
The Rooms
They have studio, 1-Bedroom, and 2-Bedroom available at this hotel. Even the studio, the smallest option available, I can see that the space is larger than typical hotel room. The studio room also has pull out sofa and kitchen area with full size refrigerator, microwave and small pantry equipped with utensils and dishware.
The 2-Bedroom option here has one cool feature that sets it apart from other typical suite room. There are 2 separate doors to enter the room. So you can actually stay with your family with a complete privacy because each room will have their own entrance. That’s neat!
Other Amenities I Like
There are other amenities and services from Homewood Suites that make me like this hotel even more. (and you will think that I work for them.. which I’m not)
- Free WiFi – Ok, this is a pet peeve of mine when I travel. How much does it cost for a hotel to setup WiFi? Why can’t they provide that as a free service to hotel guests? At least, the people at Homewood Suites think we should have free WiFi! I think every hotel should follow their footstep.
- Great business center – Yes, sometimes you might have to do business on your family trip and it’s nice to have an option to be able to conduct your business at the hotel. The business center here has multiple computers with its own printer/fax machine. There is also a small room that you can close the door for privacy.
- Putt-putt green – With the great weather majority of the time in Atlanta, a fun outdoor activity is welcoming for family with kids. And what can be more fun than a putt-putt.
- Welcome Home reception – From Mon-Thu, there will be manager reception dinner. This is not just chip & salsa type. It’s a real meal. The menu is available online and from what I see you won’t get the same meal if you stay for a whole month!

The Q Family is a family of 4 with 2 school-aged kids who love to explore as much as their parent.

One of the most important amentity for us is a good free breakfast. It’s so nice to not have to buy breakfast when we’re already buying everything else because we’re on vacation. I also really love the extra room in a suite versus a regular hotel room. When traveling with a kiddo the extra room is so nice!
One of the most important amentities for us is a good free breakfast because having to figure out where we all can eat at a good price and shuffling the family of six into a resturant is just not worth it. Having it right there so we can eat and get started on our day exploring the city we are staying in is what works for this family of six..
One of our needed amenity is internet access as it’s so nice to look up quick things to do or making reservations, etc. As a large family of five on the go, the internet is needed especially with my husband deploying to Kuwait at the end of this month for a year. We get to e-mail each other. Thanks!

The most important amenity for us is complimentary transportation. When we are at a touristy location and the kiddo’s feet get tired, it is so nice to have someone take you to and from attractions. No whining about walking blocks and blocks!
I’m a Facebook Fan!
I would have to say internet access..So many times you go to a hotel and either it’s extremely slow or you have to pay a lot for it!
I have to agree with everyone…for us, it is free internet access and free breakfast. It also is great when there is a really nice pool to keep the kiddies occupied!
Yay, I became a facebook fan!
I always look for the memory of the stay make it comfortable and fun. Like the Holiday in MOVIE!!!!!
Definitely a nice breakfast that is on-site is my favorite. Not having to pack up the family for breakfast is a huge plus!
I am already a facebook fan.
Most important for our family is free breakfast. This actually can save us alot of money!
Thanks for the Chance

size of room & comfortable bed
My most important amenity is having a complimentary breakfast so I don’t have to spend additional money and a great pool area is awesome for tiring out the little one.
A free breakfast is very important, as it means not lugging food or spending extra money.
breakfast
A clean shower and sheets and towels are the most important thing to me for sure! hasdad62@yahoo.com
I like a big room. The “suite” type room when we have a section for the kids and a section for the adults. I hate being all on top of each other.
Clean and comfortable beds and bathroom…
I like it when they have the mini fridges
Can I only pick one?? I would have to say the free “hot” breakfast is important. I’m not interested in just donuts and muffins.. I look for the works.. waffle maker, eggs, sausage or bacon, pancakes, cut fruit, and variety of breads/cereals.
ok.. had to list some more amenities.. don’t include it in the drawing.. free cookies, fruit, and water through out the day is a nice touch as well. Plus a microwave and fridge in the room makes it a top notch stay for me..
What I love about this place is the happy hour they have each night. They have the best salsbary steak (sp?) – along with great beds, great rooms, great location etc… and lets also not forget the friendly staff, Patrick in particular is very helpful.. you won’t go wrong staying here.
Hmmm… most important to my family is a BIG BREAKFAST! I love to enjoy the morning relaxing at the hotel, not running out to find food.
The most important thing is that the facilities are luxurious and very clean. And room service so that I don’t have to run out to get my wife a snack!
The most important amenity for our family is having enough comfortable pillows. Both my husband and I “claim” our pillows as soon as we arrive in the hotel room, so having extras is a must since we use an absurd amount of them when we sleep. There is nothing worse than not having enough pillows.
a swimming pool.
a pool.
A fridge in the room is always nice and I am a big fan of a free hot breakfast for the family as well :)
Clean and comfy beds are a must for me and the family!!
I have to agree with everyone…for us, it is free internet access and free breakfast. It also is great when there is a really nice pool to keep the wife occupied!
The amenity that we like best is a comfortable mattress! When having fun all day a good night’s sleep is essential. Of course, a refrigerator is a plus as well.
The amenity that is a must for my family is a spacious room that feels like home – beds separate from the living space, giving family members options – movies, games, eating, sleeping – all in one!
WIFI and BREAKFAST~ Kiddos get hungry! :)

fan on facebook! :)
Am already a fan of Q Family Adventures blog on Facebook. A nice breakfast, wi-fi, fridge, big flat-screen LCD TV with cable are a given. But what I really appreciate when on vacation is a stylish room, including its bathroom – something that looks like it could be featured in an architecture or style magazine. I’ve actually stayed at such places over the past 2 years on vacations and weddings, and even at very reasonable rates.
The most important amenity for us is complimentary transportation. When we are at a touristy location and my cane-carrying mobility limitations get to me, it is so nice to have someone take my family and me to and from attractions. No struggling walking blocks past my comfort endurance. Everybody gets to arrive happy at the same time, instead of seeing the tears in my eyes as I try to keep up. (I have need for two knee replacements and am in the process of loosing the weight I need to to be medically viable for successful, elective surgery.) When I smile, so do my husband and son. Complementary transportation helps ADA issues become manageable for the whole family–old or small.
The most important amenity for me is wifi and easy location to a major interstate a great breakfast is a bonus. Thanks for the giveaway

Having a refrigerator & microwave are very important to our young family. Snacks and late night food availability are extremely important to ward off cranky hungry children. And even allow mom a late bowl of popcorn with hubby.

The most important amenity for me is a in room refrigerator. With children I always need one and don’t want to have to travel with a huge cooler.
And I’m a facebook fan :-)
You know I’m a fan, but I’m leaving a comment anyway. My parents spend their winters in Florida, so I could go visit them next Christmas and stop in Atlanta on my way down. A stay at Homewood Suites and a visit with the Q Family! How awesome would that be:)
Free wifi!
The most important thing to me when staying at a hotel with family is having a kid-friendly environment. Not everyplace can (or should) be Disney, but having things like suite rooms, sleeper sofas, and movie rooms are great.
A coffee maker in the room.
Friendly people and a hot breakfast! I am one of 4 and when we used to road trip those were the only two things people would agree on. If they were rude we wouldn’t stay and if the breakfast was a few cold bagels, it wouldn’t cut it!

Free breakfast! We love hanging out and getting the kids fed first thing while we drink our coffee.
Comfortable, quiet room and a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Saves hunting for a place to eat when we’re wanting to get on the road!!
The pool is always a huge deal for us!
It’s kind of a toss-up between a continental breakfast and a pool. I hate getting food in the morning and I love swimming, so I can’t decide.

For me…it is a great pool! Indoor and outdoor if possible.
I live in Chattanooga so a great vacation to Atlanta would be fabulous.
I’m a facebook fan!
I always look for a free breakfast. It’s not a deal breaker, but over a long stay a free breakfast can really save you some money!
I’m a facebook fan!
breakfast is a necessity. It helps save time looking for a place to eat. money. and the kids dont get grouchy because they are hungry after waking up and having to wait to find a place
I would say my #1 criteria for selecting a hotel is its location. Then I expect clean sheets, carpeting and bathroom. Everything else is a bonus, but I love feeling pampered and away from home, even on a budget.
I’m now a FB fan too!
A complimentary breakfast!
Just became a fan.
I like a decent breakfast to be included so we don’t have extra stops to make and can start our day when we leave the hotel/motel.
I like the free continental breakfast. I am also a facebook fan.
The details. You would be surprised having worked at a hotel ages ago, when you’re away from home a hair in the sink, debris in the pool, a greeting upon arrival – It all counts.
I would have to say the most important thing would be more than one flat screen tv’s.
A pool is an absolute must for us
I need a really good bed and quiet atmosphere. I don’t want to worry about keeping my neighbor up if I watch tv, but I don’t want to be awoken by noise at night either.
I also am a sucker for a continental breakfast.
I like the “kitchenette” feature as it allow some meal preparation and snack for later. I have a friend that would love to visit me in Duluth/Lawrenceville and it would be nice to go to a movie with her!
I am a fan and I need a nice weekend getaway vacation I have a 30th wedding anniv in Oct and plus my in-laws has a 50th anni in Nov so I would love to win this if not for me for my in-laws and give them a trip
wifi is a must
First and foremost safety, Second a pool, Third free breakfast. I’d love to visit this hotel

i am a fan…the amenity i need the most is a swimming pool and a hot delicious breakfast in the morning to start our day off right…
For our family, having a big room at a hotel is necessary. Being on top of one another in a small room sours our vacations!
I am a fan on Facebook – Tricia Gatte Andrews
Free breakfast is key to us.
child friendly and lots of space!
A nice big fluffy bed!
Became a fan on facebook! Thank you!
The most important thing to me is to make sure it is clean. With two kids that are all over the place, this is extremely important to me!!
The most important amenity when staying at a hotel with my family is free internet. We check not only emails but also the next day’s weather and the directions to our destination and to family-friendly restaurants.
It just don’t get any better than that.
For us we love having a pool when staying somewhere with the kids.
When we travel my kids love to get up early and have breakfast. It’s the perfect start to our day, I know there tummies are full and most of all I don’t have to do the dishes afterwards. And I agree, it saves time and money.
A complimentary breakfast is important when traveling with a family.

Most important is that they accept pets.
When staying at a hotel with my family, the location, the quality and the cost is tied for most important. Love having a pool or other activity area near by – The putt putt green described above sounds right up our alley!
A free hot breakfast so everybody’s fed!!
Safe location and free breakfast are important for us. Thanks for the giveaway, a staycation would be great!
I think most important amenity for my family is a swimming pool.

/sounds like a great hotel!
Hi Q family. I just became a facebook fan
Breakfast!
Free Wi-Fi.
The most important amenity for me is the most comfortable, soft, smell good, fluffest bed that you could EVER sleep in. Yes swimming pools and free breakfast is great but nothing keeps me comming back than a comfortable bed that I can get lost in.
The most important thing for our family would be to have a separate bedroom we can close the door to when we put the kids to bed, and then spend some time alone together in the living room. We really love Homewood suites too! We also think their buffet is great, especially with kids that are picky eaters, you can be sure to find something for them to eat.
The most important amentity for me when traveling are business and wi-fi services. Even when a trip is for pleasure, there’s nothing worse than not being able to get a wirless internet connection in your room when you’re trying to google local attractions or even buy tickets online. It’s 2010…good, reliable, fast, wireless internet service is a must for any good hotel!
The most important amenity which a hotel could have for my family is good coffee. Three of us are coffee drinkers and if the hotel has coffee free in the lobby or free in the room (regardless even if we have to make it ourselves or not), this hotel would be our new best friend! I love waking up earlier than anyone I am staying with – grabbing my robe, and heading down to get a cup! Thanks for this chance to win!
Comfort is the most important amenity. Not only comfort of the bedding but comfort of the hotel.
Safety first them comfort. My kids want a pool.
